This year the Balkan Road Cycling Championships will be held in Bacău, Romania, as part of the Turul Colinelor road race.
Organized by the Romanian Cycling Federation in partnership with ACS Sports Academy Bacău the race is an important event for the region and for the Balkans as well. Race categories will be Elite, U23, Junior and U17.
Registration will be opened starting with the 2nd half of February 2025.
“I sincerely commend the efforts and passion you demonstrate daily in promoting high-performance sports, dedicating your entire energy to improving the lives of young people across the country”, said Constantin Bogdan Matei, President of the National Sports Agency.
“Through hard work and vision, you have succeeded in creating an ideal environment where our youth not only learn about the benefits of an active lifestyle but also experience the pure joy that sports can offer.
Prestigious events such as the 2025 Balkan Road Championship showcase the transformative power of cycling — not just as a physical activity, but as a catalyst for a community united by shared passions. This championship represents more than just a competition; it is a celebration of diversity, cooperation, and the spirit of active involvement.
Through its unique dynamics, cycling teaches young people about the advantages of high-performance sports, and the adrenaline from every kilometer ridden enhances not only physical fitness but also the perspective of being part of this vibrant sports ecosystem”, concluded Mr. Constantin Bogdan Matei.
“When we started Turul Colinelor Bacău a lot of the accomplishments achieved during the last editions were just dreams”, said Bogdan Duca, race organizer.
“Evolution of the project has been a natural one, with each year allowing us to raise the standards of organization, clearly recommending us for the Balkan Road Championship. This does not mean we won’t face challenges and obstacles — experiences that will prepare us for what lies ahead. What I know for sure is that it will be a true cycling festival in Bacău between May 21 and 25, an important opportunity to promote the county and the region of Moldova, as well as to support the local economy.
We thank the Romanian Cycling Federation and the Balkan Cycling Union for their trust. We are delighted to host such a large-scale competition, which reflects our passion and commitment to cycling. This event will be a fantastic opportunity for young athletes from the Balkans to showcase their talent”, concluded Mr. Bogdan Duca.
“We continue to bring international cycling events to Romania as part of the Romanian Cycling Federation’s strategy to support performance and make cycling more visible and widely practiced by children who, we hope, will find role models among the participants. We thank the National Sports Agency for all their support and ACS Sports Academy Bacău for their organizational efforts,” concluded Mr. Cătălin Sprînceană, President of the Romanian Cycling Federation.
Besides the Balkan Championships, on 24th and 25th, the location will also host the 2nd stage of the Romanian Road Cup as part of the Turului Colinelor Bacău road race. The format of the two days will remain the same as in previous editions, with points for the Romanian Cup being awarded based on the cumulative time from both stages.
