About Cheile Grădiștei

Cheile Grădiștei, in Brașov County, hosted the 2024 edition of the UEC European MTB Championships, held between May 8 and 12, 2024. The event marked a major premiere for Romania, as it was one of the main venues of the continental mountain biking competition organized under the auspices of the UEC.

Located 25 km from Brașov, the Cheile Grădiștei resort sits in the spectacular Fundata–Moeciu area, close to the tourist attractions around Bran as well as to lesser-traveled trails in the Piatra Craiului Mountains.

The tourist complex has an accommodation capacity of 800 places across 22 hotels and villas, 5 restaurants and pubs, 2 SPA centers, and a sports base with football and tennis fields, a gym, and a biathlon arena, making the resort a unique destination.

Sport, in fact, was the foundation of the complex’s development. It was founded by performance athlete Ovidiu Gârbacea, multiple national champion in cross-country skiing, university champion, Balkan champion, and coach of the Olympic team. The resort has already hosted the final tournaments of the Romanian Cup in men’s and women’s volleyball, as well as the Balkan Junior Basketball Championships, and the European MTB Championships place the resort firmly on the map for cycling enthusiasts across Europe.
